ABOUT THE PROGRAM

A Small, Student-Led Environment

With just five spots per group, The Teaching Lab is intentionally small, informal, and conversational so that you can ask the questions you’ve been wondering about – not just the ones you think are most important.

Each week will have a focus, but the conversation will be shaped by the questions, experiences, and challenges you bring to the room. Mariana will bring her experience and expertise, while the group creates space to discuss, practice, troubleshoot, and learn from one another.

Who Is This For?

The Teaching Lab is designed for Pilates teachers who have completed a comprehensive teacher training program and are looking to bridge the gap between teacher training and working with clients.

This workshop is especially suited for teachers who are:

  • Newly certified and beginning to build their teaching practice

  • Looking for mentorship after completing teacher training

  • Already teaching but want to feel more confident working one-on-one

  • Looking to refine their observation, cueing, and hands-on skills

  • Looking for a supportive community of fellow emerging teachers

Topics You’ll Explore

Each week combines discussion, observation, movement, and practical application. Together, we’ll go beyond simply knowing the exercises to better understand why, when, and how to teach them.

Topics will be guided by the questions and experiences of the group, with a focus on:

  • Anatomy & movement analysis: Develop your ability to observe clients and understand their movement patterns.

  • The intention behind the exercises: Deepen your understanding of the purpose, goals, and applications of the work.

  • Teaching the body in front of you: Learn how to adapt exercises based on an individual client’s needs, goals, abilities, and movement patterns.

  • Hands-on corrections: Develop confidence and intention in your tactile cueing and corrections.

  • Structuring a private session: Learn how to build thoughtful, cohesive sessions rather than simply moving through a list of exercises.

  • Client goals & relationships: Learn how to listen to clients, identify their goals, and create an experience that keeps them engaged.

Mariana Diehl
Head Teacher | STOTT® Pilates Instructor

MSc. Biodynamics of Movement and Sports

Mariana is certified Stott Pilates instructor with a Master’s degree in Biodynamics of Movement and Sports (minor in biomechanics and movement analysis) — plus two bachelor’s degrees, one in Dance and one in Sport. With 14 years of experience, she has  taught across four countries — Brazil, France, Thailand, and the USA — adapting her  approach to different bodies, cultures, and training styles.

She brings a comprehensive, movement-focused approach to her Pilates teaching, with a particular passion for body awareness, anatomy, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

Her work centers on helping clients develop confidence in their bodies and their own physical capabilities, with the ultimate goal of helping them become more independent in their movement and in life.

As a teacher and mentor, Mariana brings this same philosophy to emerging instructors: developing a deeper understanding of the body, learning to truly observe the person in front of you, and building the confidence to make thoughtful decisions as a teacher.
