Pilates for moms-to-be

Prenatal Pilates Group

D.C. moms-to-be, we’re excited to offer prenatal reformer Pilates group at Twist Pilates. For many, pregnancy comes with natural changes to your posture, gait and endurance. The gentle, low-impact nature of reformer Pilates makes it a safe and gentle way to move your body throughout your entire pregnancy (and beyond!).

Intended for moms-to-be who maintained a regular movement practice prior to pregnancy, our prenatal classes are designed to help support your body as you grow your baby, and will focus on:

  • Increasing awareness of your pelvic floor and core during movement;

  • Maintaining your strength throughout pregnancy;

  • Preparing for postnatal movement patterns;

  • Improving your mobility, balance, and coordination as your center of gravity shifts.

  • Sessions may include invited guests including pelvic floor physical therapist and prenatal-focused massage therapist.

You’ll meet with the same group and teacher each week, forming a supportive community along the way!

$375 for the full 8-week session. Up to two make-up classes will be held based on class need and schedule.

Private Sessions

Prenatal Private Sessions
In private sessions, we support your unique body through the changes of pregnancy—building core support and pelvic stability while preparing for delivery and postnatal life. Sessions are designed to be well-rounded, engaging workouts that focus on your entire body, because you’re still a whole person who wants to move, feel strong, and enjoy exercise.

Each session is tailored to you, meeting your body where it is and helping you stay strong, connected, and confident throughout this season.

Why choose private sessions
Privates are ideal for those who prefer one-on-one support, are new to exercise or Pilates, or are navigating current or past injuries. They’re also a great way to complement your group class with more individualized attention so you can realize the full benefits of Pilates.

“I loved the chance to work out in a class that was tailored to pregnancy, rather than go to a regular class and modify. I also really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the same group of expecting moms every week. I had really wanted to keep up Pilates throughout pregnancy and this was the perfect way to do that.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes—when appropriately modified and cleared by your healthcare provider, Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise during pregnancy, especially for those looking to maintain strength, mobility, and body awareness. It’s not about doing every exercise the same way as before, but about supporting your changing body in a sustainable, empowering way.

  • If you are new to the reformer a private session is required to join our prenatal group class so that you can get to know the equipment safely. Please note: our classes use a different apparatus than Lagree, Solidcore, and similar styles, and megaformer experience does not exempt you from this requirement.

  • $375 for the full 8-week session. Up to two make-up classes will be offered based on class need and instructor availability. Make-up classes are not guaranteed.

    If you need to leave the session at the recommendation of your provider, you will be refunded for the remaining classes up to half of the session fee.

  • All Twist Pilates classes are capped at five students, allowing each class to be tailored to your needs and physical capacity. The baseline class is designed to be accessible across all trimesters, with modifications offered throughout.
